Experience a breathtaking 2-day journey to Toubkal's summit.

Day 1: Transfer to Imlil and Trek to Toubkal Refuge

  • Morning:

    • Departure from Marrakech at 8:00 AM by private vehicle.

    • Enjoy a scenic 1.5-hour drive through the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, passing traditional Berber villages.

    • Arrival in Imlil Valley (1,740 m), the starting point of the trek. Meet your guide and muleteers.

    • Begin your trek after a brief introduction and preparation.

  • Trek Overview:

    • Distance: 11 km (approx. 6.8 miles)

    • Elevation Gain: 1,200 m

    • Duration: 5–6 hours

    • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Midday:

    • Pass through the village of Aremd and follow the trail along the Mizane River.

    • Reach the Shrine of Sidi Chamharouch (2,310 m) after about 2.5 hours. This is a revered spiritual site for locals and visitors. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch here, surrounded by stunning mountain views.

  • Afternoon:

    • Continue ascending towards the Toubkal Refuge (3,207 m), crossing rocky trails and enjoying views of the rugged peaks.

    • Check-in at the refuge and rest after your trek. Tea and snacks will be served.

  • Evening:

    • A hearty dinner will be provided at the refuge.

    • Overnight stay in dormitory-style accommodation at the refuge.

Day 2: Summit Ascent and Descent to Imlil

  • Morning:

    • Early start (around 4:30–5:00 AM) with headlamps for the summit climb.

    • Trek Overview (Ascent):

      • Distance: 4 km (approx. 2.5 miles) to the summit

      • Elevation Gain: 960 m

      • Duration: 3–4 hours

      • Difficulty: Challenging

    • Reach the summit of Mount Toubkal (4,167 m) at sunrise, the highest point in North Africa. Enjoy panoramic views stretching across the High Atlas, the Anti-Atlas, and the Sahara Desert. Take memorable summit photos.

  • Mid-Morning:

    • Descend via an alternate trail that leads to the aircraft crash site from 1969. This site is a poignant and fascinating location, with parts of the wreckage still visible against the stark mountain landscape.

    • Continue descending back to Sidi Chamharouch, where you will have lunch.

  • Afternoon:

    • Resume your trek back to Imlil via the original route.

    • Trek Overview (Descent):

      • Distance: 15 km (9.3 miles)

      • Elevation Loss: 2,400 m

      • Duration: 5–6 hours

      • Difficulty: Moderate

  • Late Afternoon:

    • Arrival in Imlil Valley. Transfer back to Marrakech (1.5 hours).

    • Estimated arrival time in Marrakech: 6:00–7:00 PM.

  • Weather Conditions: Ensure you check the forecast before the trek. Temperatures at the summit can be significantly lower than in Marrakech, especially early in the morning.

  • Recommended Gear:

    • Warm clothing, gloves, and a windproof jacket for the summit climb.

    • Comfortable trekking boots and walking poles.

    • A small daypack for essentials.

  • Fitness Level: This trek requires moderate to high fitness levels due to the altitude and challenging terrain.
